Take Time to Reset

Image
I forget that the computer is life right now...even the computer needs a break. It's important we all take time to restart/ reset. Sunday's are my "day of rest" - I'm creative for pleasure not for profit.

Bird Sightings

Image
Having the backyard we do the birds are in heaven. I hung this bird feeder right outside my office window thinking I would be inundated with bird sightings... but this is the first bird I have noticed in my feeder! It only took them 3 months to find it!

How am I supposed to get any work done?

Image
Do I even need to caption this? The keyboard is on the edge of the desk and I can barely type. I love you Captain Jack.

Is anyone home?

Image
I was on Instagram the other day. . . this woman took a stroll around her yard every morning before the critters went back in for the morning. Her yard was like a giant forest. She had a baby frog. I would get LOST in her yard. But thou shall not covet. I do love my yard. I decided to take a few minutes and get outside for a stroll around my yard to see what I notice. Low and behold - I have Fairies! I found one of their houses. I was going to knock, but I didn't want to disturb them, it was early after all.

Is there such a thing as too much coffee?

Image
This is my small mug. When Corona-cation started I was going through a full pot a day. I have tapered off a bit...but now I just ice it.... Seriously corona virus is not a problem Drinking half a gallon of heavy cream every three days is!

Hanging out the laundry to dry

Image
I do not think it will take long for little Frogys laundry to dry today.

I love seeing my kids create

Image
Lauren was barely awake and I saw her painting with her good paints. I didn't realize they were flower patterns from inside an Amazon box. Pretty cool.Creativity in any form is never a waste of time.

College - It was so long ago

Image
It's hard to believe this was 26 years ago. My Mom was so proud of me. I graduated with a 3.5 GPA...just normal in my opinion. It took me 5 years to complete college because I was also working and, well, just going to college. I've never been all crazy about school. In fact when I graduated 26 years ago I swore I was DONE. Traditionally speaking, I didn't ever go back. I have never stopped learning, But I have nothing beyond my teaching credential. I'm GOOD with that - especially knowing what I know now...That degree in Psychology continues to serve me well.

Everyone plays Monopoly this way - you have to try it.

Seriously - Jack is so funny. We ended up clearing out the box so he could sleep in the box and our Game resumed. Alex was the big winner.

Will there be a spike?

Image
I wanted to get a baseline now that things are "opening" to see if there is an increase in cases as more and more people move about... Just me. Curious.

I'm really working hard - and improving so much!

Image
I can remember sitting with Emily - being frustrated about how far I had to go to get products in my shop. I now have 60 - yes 60 products. I'm using methods to streamline my work flow and my eye for design is getting better and better. I'm still in the "red" - investing more than I'm making, but it is so worth it as I see the hand of God so clearly in what I am doing.  Holidays are HOLY days... teachers need to connect to their students. Fun , easy to use curriculum can accomplish that.

I'm here to help - even if it's just my close friends and family.

Image
I posted this to my social media accounts. I'll follow up as summer progresses and families are making decisions. Charter schools swoop in with their money and it's not always the best fit. I believe in taking time to make well informed decisions. I hope Happy Hive can provide that.

Unconventional Graduation is still Graduation

Image
We went to Encore Riverside to pick up the Cap & Gown today. IT was really special. I actually LOVED IT! Pictures, video, the works. I truy appreciate the effort being put into "graduation". This is proof of what I have been saying for YEARS - the ceremony is just that... pomp and circumstance - meaningless. Graduation is every bit of the 13 years of hard work.

The Garden is progressing

Image
It's really beautiful to think about the flower becoming fruit. This morning this beautiful Zucchini flower greeted me. I love my backyard.

This is the way to do Schoolwork

Image
Found my senior in the backyard working on her tan and her schoolwork. I love how she built a tent!

Celebrating 22 Years

Image
Today we celebrate our 22nd Family-A-Versary. We had pizza (threw it in the oven) salad and garlic bread. Then we played games. It was nice to celebrate at home.

Who is that masked woman?

Image
Just so I have a picture with my mask on.

Side by Side with my Bitmoji

Image
I belong to a group for educators that use their Bitmoji for things in education - all kinds of things. So they asked us to post a side by side picture. My Bitmoji is my goal weight, LOL!

This cat is killing me....

Image
I love him, but really Jack - why can't you visit me at night while I'm watching TV. I have plenty of time to pet you then...

World Bee Day - not until next week...but

Image
Some products need assembly! This is a pollinators mobile I created. the flower opens up and the "parts" are inside. Educational and decorative.  There are THOUSANDS of sellers on Teachers Pay Teachers... but none of them are ME!This will be in my shop by the end of the week!

Custom Gift Giving

Image
I love that the family comes to us to create their custom gifts. Anthony and I were able to work together with our combined talents to make this come alive. I dare say Anthony out did me when I said, the wire should twist between the two hearts... I woke up to an amazing interpretation of my words!

Mother's Day Surprise

Image
This special Delivery from Mrs. Bri and her girls absolutely MADE my Mother's day. It was the AWESOME, SWEET, Kind and LOVING thing! I did not deserve it! But deep down I am so THANKFUL for these three!

Mary quite contrary - how does your garden grow?

Image
I don't think we are going to starve in some grand government collapse. But you know- I can survive on radishes! Nothing feels quite like HOME than a yard with a garden growing. It's been quite a few years since we invested the effort. It feels right.

Daily Chores

Image
I have communicated daily chores to the bugs in many ways over the years, but the most frequent way is the color coded list on the counter. They just do them at their own pace.

Original Designs

Image
I'm really proud of the research and design (With the help of my talented Husband!) in this Lantern mini book for my Florence Nightingale product! I wanted it to be authentic! Many pictures erroneously depict her holding a "genie" style lamp. This mini book is part of my Florence Nightingale curriculum pack Available in my Teachers pay Teachers and Amped up Learning stores.

Graduation Sign

Image
I think schools delivering signs to Seniors is really special. I hope it continues and isn't just because of the Quarantine.

Creativity while I sleep

Image
I have 3 teenagers. I do not monitor them, nor their bedtime any longer. They know their responsibilities. So needless to say I go to bed far earlier than they do. I also wake up far earlier than they do and let me tell you I get a LOT done in those wee hours (like the gift of dishes they leave me - ha ha) Sometimes I get other "gifts" ... It's a treasure to wake up and see a painting in progress, or a crochet project left laying on the couch. These core activities of creativity make my heart happy.

May the 4th Be With you.

Image
I love Star Wars Day! It's really a PERFECT day to celebrate in the classroom because of the PUN - what principal can argue when my lessons are Language Arts Lessons. --- So that's the product I created!  It's available for the current model of "distance learning" as well - and I'm SURE that is helping it become -  My new, BEST SELLING PRODUCT

Birthday Parade

Image
We did a drive by party for my beautiful Niece. I cried. It hurt to see her so beautiful and happy and not to be able to "BE" there too. This is a sure sign menopause is starting, LOL. everything is making me cry.

Life's what you make it

Image
Last Saturday my girl attended "virtual" Prom. Facts are facts. She missed going dress shopping and having a special lunch with Gloria and I. She missed having her hair done "special". She missed the fancy dress, going to dinner, staying out until 1 AM with her friends - she sure did. She and every other senior across the country. They made NEW memories. They had UNIQUE experiences. And they did it for the GOOD of society as a whole. Somewhere someone spent their Prom Night in a hospital bed, or worrying about a family member in the hospital. Life is bigger than Prom. Life's what you make it.

National Super Hero day

Image
There is a Hero in us all! This Bear is my model. I use him for all my "kid" curriculum needs!
